SA: Woman appears in court over arson spree

ADELAIDE, Dec 17 AAP - A 44-year-old Adelaide woman has appeared in court charged with
lighting 47 bushfires in the Adelaide Hills.

Helen White, from the hills town of Harrogate, appeared in the Murray Bridge Magistrates
Court today after being arrested on Saturday.

She has been accused of being involved in an arson spree over the past year.

The first fires were lit at Harrogate in December 2006, followed by 21 fires in January
this year, another four fires in March and 17 fires this month.

The court was told today White could be linked to as many as 15 of the fires.

She applied for bail and Magistrate Derek Sprod ordered a report on the possibility
of home detention.

He remanded White in custody for a decision on Friday.
